Some time ago I was listening to my audio Bible giving accounts of events that happened before our Lord Jesus became the “Son of man”. And I just couldn’t understand why the Israelites at that time would prefer to be like the people from other nations. Like why? Couldn’t they just accept that they are different because of their God? Their God is greater than other gods. Their God is determined to protect them , keep them and prosper them in every way. Their God jealously guards them. What was the point of the wasted energy on things that didn’t even count? Didn’t they see that they already belong?
They were desirable to the great and mighty God, the King of glory.
And That’s the very ESSENCE of life!
Then it dawned on me that He is extending His hand again to us. The people He bought for Himself through the blood of His son Jesus Christ, our LORD.
Throughout the scriptures, we see that King Yahweh, commander of Angel Armies desires a people for Himself. And He wholeheartedly claims them as His own. He delivers them, makes a covenant with them. He defines their boundaries and showers them with His many blessings. He would say things like “If my people…” and “Whom should I send to my people?

Now through our Lord Jesus. He is reaching out to us. The Father loves us so much that He gave us His son. The son came in the form of a man and bought us for God. We became one in Christ. And after He ascended to Heaven. He asked the Father to give us the Holy Spirit; the Spirit of full acceptance, enfolding us into the family of God. He’s given us His Spirit. We have His name, We have His authority. Now, we do His bidding (on earth as It is in Heaven)
He sacrificed himself for us that he might purchase our freedom from every lawless deed and to purify for himself A PEOPLE who are his very own, passionate to do what is beautiful in his eyes.(Titus 2:14)
THESE PEOPLE WILL ONLY HAVE IT GOD’S WAY.
God has desires and this is exactly what His people are after; they are unwavering in their resolve to see to it that His heart’s desires are fulfilled. This is because they have the revelation of the goodness of God and His wonderful deeds for mankind.
Let’s explore some of God’s desires:
- God Desires Righteousness and Justice – In Psalms, we were told that Righteousness and Justice are the foundation of God’s magnificent throne. That’s Who He is and our King will never change. We will see this desire (Righteousness and Justice) reflected in His responses and actions throughout the scriptures.
During prophet Isaiah’s time, the Israelites were fasting and they accuse God of not noticing them. They said “We have fasted before you! Why aren’t you impressed? We have been hard on ourselves, and you don’t even notice!’ Well even though He knew they wouldn’t listen. He still took out time to patiently educate them.
“I will tell you why!” He responded. He made a list for them of what their fasting was all about; to please themselves. And then He shared with them the kind of fast He desires.
“No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;
- lighten the burden of those who work for you.
- let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.
- share your food with hungry, give shelter to the homeless.“
And more (Isaiah 58). He then gave them assurance of what will happen when they do that.
In every situation, God desires Righteousness and Justice and our Lord Jesus demonstrated this to us perfectly. He did exactly what Isaiah 9 spoke about Him.

- God Desires All to Be Saved – The price has been paid. Jesus took care of the sinful nature on the cross. Everyone can choose to be in Life-union with Jesus the anointed one. Our Father in Heaven desires all to be saved. In Ezekiel 18 He said the death of anyone gives Him no pleasure and that we should repent and live! Which is the right thing to do when we understand how good His thoughts are towards us. He is a good God; patient and kind and He doesn’t lie. He shares His character with His people and makes them look good when they let Him have His way with them. He has a victorious right hand that holds His people firmly. When troubles come He is a strong refuge to His people. He is close to those who TRUST Him. He draws near to those who call out to Him, listening closely, especially when their hearts are true.

There is a new covenant between God and His people activated through the shedding of Christ’s blood. This covenant comes with better PROMISES and speaks a better word “forgiveness” than the blood of Abel (which cried for vengeance)
Jesus bought a place for each person. We should discern Him and receive Him wholeheartedly!

Let’s Pray, Friends.
Father in Heaven, thank you for your unfailing love towards us. We ask that you give us spiritual wisdom and insight so that we may know you. We pray that the eyes of our hearts be flooded with light so that we can understand the confident hope you’ve given to those you called. We also pray that we will understand the incredible greatness of your power for us who believe in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Ephesians 1:17-23)
